It can be a challenge to protect your potted garden plants properly during winter. Even if you have room inside, the plants may suffer because of the change of place and light. With a portable greenhouse from Dancover, you can protect your plants growing in planters, tubs, and more. The greenhouse is easy to assemble; it has an inner cover with three layers of insulation, outer cover, and a strong zip that will make it easy to access the plants during the winter. The base is attached to the outer cover and has a zip, which makes it possible to open before placing the plants.

A portable greenhouse is the obvious choice if you have plants in your garden or on the patio, which need protection during the winter. One of the main problems with potted plants outside is the combination of rain and degrees below freezing. If the humus in the planter becomes wet, the water will freeze and expand if the temperature gets below zero. In this case, you risk a broken planter and damaged roots. With a portable greenhouse, the rain will not affect the plants. On the other hand, the plants may need watering during the stay inside the greenhouse. For this, you have easy access due to the zip in the cover of the greenhouse.

At low temperatures, the humidity is low and your plants may be drying out. The wind will only increase the problem so we recommend that you place your potted plants inside a portable greenhouse. This will protect the plants and the leaves from frostbites, being weighed down, and maybe broken by the weight of the snow.

We recommend

  1. Place your potted plants inside the greenhouse in good time before the temperature falls below zero to avoid the plants have a cold shock.
  2. If possible, place your portable greenhouse close to a house wall, as it will emit a little heat.
  3. Remember to remove snow from the greenhouse, as it will prevent the light reaching the plants.
  4. Are you in doubt whether your potted plants are able to endure temperatures below zero, we recommend that you contact the shop where you bought the plants, the Internet or relevant literature!

Safety Advice

  • In the case of strong wind, it is your responsibility to secure the polytunnel greenhouse adequately and prevent it from injuring materials and people.
  • Your polytunnel greenhouse is intended as a seasonal form of coverage and not as a permanent structure.
  • During windy weather, we advise you to secure your greenhouse or in case of strong wind, take it down. Overall, we advise you to place your polytunnel greenhouse in the lee of a building, trees or other that will protect the greenhouse from too strong and direct wind.
  • When it rains, water may pile up on top of your polytunnel greenhouse causing it to collapse. It is your responsibility to keep the roof of the greenhouse free of gathering water. Be sure that the cover is fully extended - please remove standing water that builds up during rainfall.
  • When it snows, snow may pile up on the top of your greenhouse. Wet and heavy snow may cause the greenhouse to collapse. It is your responsibility to remove snow from the roof of your greenhouse and save the structure from damage.
  • Please be sure that your greenhouse is completely dry before you take it down and pack it up. This will minimise the risk of mould and mildew.
  • Do not pack or unpack your greenhouse at temperatures below zero. Doing so may damage the cover.
  • Do not use open fire, welding equipment or other sources of ignition, inside or close to the greenhouse.
  • Please note that the Dancover warranty applies only to the normal use of the product happening in accordance with the written instructions in your manual. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. It does not cover damage, defect, wear and tear caused by misuse, poor maintenance, abuse, unauthorized modification or exposure to bad weather conditions either. (See above.)
  • We recommend you to check whether your polytunnel greenhouse is covered by your home contents insurance.
Warning!
This structure is not tested for specific snow and wind loads! See above how to act during various weather conditions.
